Gulf Medical University, Ajman – U.A.E. hosts GMU MASE 2012 – Annual Medical & Science Exhibition.

Gulf Medical University (GMU), Ajman – U.A.E. hosted the GMU MASE 2012 –  Annual and Medical Science Exhibition recently.  The grand event was attended to full capacity by more than 2000 students from around 200 schools.  Students from 15 schools from Dubai, Ajman, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah  with special interest and talent in the field of medical and sciences showcased their innovative project work, posters.  Apart from the handmade models/displays by the high school students, posters and  audio visual presentations  were conspicuously  displayed.  Around 100 projects and 68 creative posters/wall charts were displayed by the participating students. In line with the contest,  the participating students were given a chance to learn from the exhibits displayed by various departments from GMU such as the MBBS, Pharma D, DMD & BPT programs in the form of specimens, cadavers, life like mannequins and simulators.

The winners of the GMU MASE 2012 – Annual and Medical Science Exhibition were selected by a panel of judges which comprised  of eminent doctors and faculty members from GMU.

In the Posters category for the Xth grade students, Leaders Private School, Sharjah was awarded the First, Second and Third Prizes winners for their award winning posters on Food Preservatives, Fire Safety, Sound Patterns respectively.  Al Ameer English School, Ajman was awarded a consolation prize for its poster on Ill Effects of Junk Food.

In the Posters category for the XIth grade students, Delhi Private School bagged for the First prize for its poster on ‘Carbon Foot Print’, Leaders Private School, Sharjah bagged the Second Prize for its poster on ‘Invisible Science’ and Delhi Private School, Sharjah bagged the Third Prize for its poster on ‘Alien Hand Syndrome’.  Pristine Private School, Dubai was awarded a consolation prize for its poster on ‘How do laser take the twinkle out of starlight’.

In the Posters category for the XIIth grade students, Leaders Private School, Sharjah won the First prize for its award winning poster on ‘Stem Cells’, while Our Own English High School  and Leaders Private School, Sharjah won the second and third prizes for their posters ‘Smoker’s Lungs’ and ‘Sunscreen’ respectively.  Gulf Indian High School won the consolation prize for their poster on ‘Zapper’.

In the Projects category for the Xth grade students, Delhi Private School was awarded the First prize for its award winning project ‘Living Tomorrow’ while Leaders Private School, Sharjah was awarded the Second prize for its project ‘The Necessary Evil’ and Delhi Private School, Sharjah  the  Third prize for its  project ‘Luminic Eruption’.

Indian School, Ajman and Al Ameer English School, Ajman were awarded consolation prizes for their projects ‘Electrostatic Precipitator’ and “Corn Starch Eruption’ respectively.

In the Projects category for the XIth grade students, Delhi Private School, Sharjah bagged the First prize for its project ‘Economical Multi-touch Screen’, while Delhi Private School, Sharjah bagged the Second prize for its project on ‘Harmful Effects of Smoking’ and Pristine Private School, Dubai bagged the Third Prize for its project on ‘Bionic Parts’.  Gulf Indian High School, Dubai and New Indian Model School, Dubai were awarded consolation prizes for their projects ‘Bionic Arm, Bionic Engineering – The Sixth Sense’ and ‘Magnetic Train’ respectively.

In the Projects category for XIIth standard students, Our Own English High School, Sharjah won the First prize for the outstanding project ‘Deluminator – A De-luminating Device’, while the Second prize was won by New Indian Model, Dubai for their project ‘Alien Hand Syndrome’ and the Third prize by Delhi Private School, Sharjah for their project ‘Alternative for Blood Transfusion’.  Consolation prizes was awarded to Indian School, Ajman for its project on ‘Bariatric Surgery’ and The Indian High School, Dubai for its project ‘ Tesla Coil Working Model’.

Delhi Private School,  Sharjah emerged as Winner of  the prestigious  Overall Performance Prize.

Indian School, Ajman was awarded the Viewer’s Choice for their eye catching presentation of ‘Burj Khaleefa’.

Special Awards known as Science India Forum Awards were presented to Delhi Private School, Sharjah for its project ‘Nano Tech DNA’,  Pristine Private School for ‘Dancing Light’ and New Indian Model School, Sharjah for ‘Thalassemia’.

Gulf Indian High School, Dubai and Al Ameer English School, Ajman were presented with special mementos as a token of appreciation for their participation in the grand event.

Based on the Viewer’s Choice (the participating students) the Department of Anatomy, Gulf Medical University was adjudged as the Best Department.

Professor  Gita Ashok Raj – Provost, Prof. R. Chandramouli – Dean, Physiology Department and Prof. Mohd. Arifulla – Dean, Admissions & Registrar gave away the prizes to all the winners/runners  of the competition.

GMU MASE 2012 was sponsored by Al Mutanabbi Bookshop L.L.C., while the co-sponsors of the event were Science India Forum, Feroglobin, Krispy Kreme, Al Ain Milk Dairy and Americana.
