Gulf Medical University aims to impart high quality medical education. This is the first medical school in the region, which offers admissions to both boys and girls of all nationalities. The University is promoted and managed by Thumbay Group.

Gulf Medical University is recognized and approved as an institution for higher education by the Ministry of Education, UAE. GMU is listed in World Directory of Medical Schools by WHO and also listed in IMED under the auspices of FAIMER. Eastern Mediterranean Region Office (EMRO) of WHO lists all the programs offered by the different colleges under Gulf Medical University.
