WOMENS WEEK MARKS THE CELEBRATION OF GMC HOSPITAL 7TH ANNIVERSARY 17TH-23RD OCTOBER 2009

GMC Hospital Celebrated its 7th Anniversary by introducing a whole week of special activities for women,GMC Hospital is in the 8th year of providing quality Health care to its patients. Dr. Manvir Singh, Medical Director GMC Hospitals also launched the GMC Family Card and awarded the 5 Lucky families with this card who were selected from the first 25 babies born at GMC Hospital.

GMC Hospital is conducting its Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Program commemorating the Breast Cancer awareness month from 19th to 23rd October 2009. The campaign will be conducted at the hospital under the name GMC Pink Ribbon Campaign – 2009. During the week long campaign, women visiting the hospital can receive Breast Cancer Screening for a nominal charge, consisting of Consultation with a Gynecologist and Mammogram. A special Well Woman Package is being offered at 50% discount at GMC Hospital from the 17th – 27th of October to mark the occasion.

According to Prof. Manda Venkatramana, Surgeon, GMC Hospital, and Associate Dean of Gulf Medical College, breast cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting women in UAE. Breast cancer when detected early is curable and this campaign is all about screening and prevention with special emphasis on performing Breast Self Examinations for early detection. A multi – disciplinary approach is how breast cancer is best managed and which results in the best patient outcome; physically, mentally, emotionally, and psychologically.

The main aim of this campaign is to help the people stay healthy and fit by educating them on the harmful effects of Breast Cancer and the safety measures one can take to help fight against this deadly disease.

The campaign will be held in GMC Hospital Ajman, apart from a special session that will be organized at Umm Al Moumineen Ajman, where in over 150 women officials from various government departments and organizations are invited to participate. Special talks will be held at Body & Soul health Club & Spa in Dubai, Indian Social Club Fujairah and GMC Hospital Fujairah. On the last day, we will be organizing Continuing Nursing Education at GMU Campus in Ajman wherein over 200 nurses from all over UAE are expected to participate.
