Thumbay Hospital Dubai hosts a Seminar on Recent Trends in Medicine as part of Doctors Meet 2014

Thumbay Hospital honors leading Specialists from all over UAE during the event attended by over 2000 people including 800 doctors and healthcare professionals.

The leading healthcare provider in UAE, Thumbay Hospital Dubai (part of Thumbay Group and GMC hospital) hosted the Seminar on Recent Trends in Medicine as part of Doctors Meet 2014. The new hospital is due to open in December 2014 / January 2015.

In his welcome note Mr. Akbar Moideen Thumbay, Director Operations – Healthcare and Retail Divisions, Thumbay Group UAE said that the visionary zeal of the founder president Mr. Thumbay Moideen laid the foundation for the establishment of Gulf Medical University and GMC hospitals, now known as Thumbay Hospitals, which today are leaders in Education and Healthcare. Sharing the group’s strategic plan, he mentioned that the group is planning to establish 10 – 15 more hospitals in the region in the next 5-7 years apart from 3-5 university campuses in other countries. “Our endeavor is to recognize the contributions made by doctors in their specialty, highlight their achievements and thank them for their support and encouragement extended to our hospitals.  This is a token of our appreciation and we wish to conduct this ceremony every year.” said Mr. Akbar Moideen Thumbay.

Speaking on the occasion Chief Guest on the occasion His Excellency T P Seetharam., Indian Ambassador to UAE lauded the advanced facilities and services offered by Thumbay Hospitals. Mr. Seetharam said that he was proud of its achievements and congratulated Mr. Thumbay Moideen for establishing such hospitals.

Later His Excellency T P Seetharam and Mr. Thumbay Moideen, Founder President Thumbay Group honored leading doctors like Dr. Mouza Al Sharhan, President Emirates Medical Association, Dr. Amin Gohary, leading Pediatric surgeon, Dr. Syed Mohsen Mahmoodi, eminent Orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Abdulla Qassim, head of neurosurgery department Rashid Hospital and Dr. Mohamed Al Olama, President Emirates Neurosurgeons Society.  The event was attended by Prof. Gita Ashok Raj, Provost Gulf Medical University, apart from Doctors and officials from Ministry of Health. Dr. Manvir Singh Walia Administrative Director of Healthcare Division, Thumbay Group presented an overview of Thumbay Group Activities.

The following topics were discussed during the seminar. Body contouring-art, science and clinical practice, Dr. Punam Bijlani – Consultant & HOD, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Cystis lesions of the jaws among Children, Prof. Mohamed Said Hamed, Staged Closure of Giant Omphalocele using Synthetic Mesh, Dr. Lalit Parida, Consultant Pediatric Surgeon, A smart  innovation for radical treatment of hemorrhoids  ” THD ” procedure, (transanal Hemorrhoids De-Arterialisation) “, Dr. Nina Vicol – Specialist in General Surgery, Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) & Diabetes, Dr. Manish Tripathi – Specialist in Nephrology and Recent advances in the field of endoscopy, Dr. Sithara K. Balagopal – Specialist in Gastroenterology. The seminar was accredited by the Ministry of Health for 6 CME hours.

The meeting ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Ashutosh Sood, Assistant Administrative Director, Thumbay Hospital Dubai.
