Mr. Thumbay Moideen, Founder President of Gulf Medical University, UAE participated as a Panelist/Speaker in eHealth-Healthcare Leaders Forum held on January 14, 2011 at The Claridges, New Delhi. As an eminent Panelist and Speaker Mr. Thumbay Moideen reflected upon the private sector’s role in creating successful Healthcare Delivery Centres in India.

The session’s background was evidently focused on the private sector which has played a tremendous role in shaping the healthcare sector in India. It was emphasized that India has a deficit of around three hundred thousand hospital beds right now and in future almost 80 percent of this deficit would be fulfilled by the private sector. Healthcare industry leaders in the session reflected upon the private sector’s role in changing the face of healthcare in India.
The panel discussion was also focused on quality which is crucial when it comes to healthcare and there have been numerous instances of poor care, inadequate facilities, unnecessary interventions and insufficient information that have called for a closer look at the healthcare delivery system . The panel discussed at length about the various parameters that have helped in developing quality through accreditation.
