PADMASHREE DR. SHARADKUMAR DICKSHEET VISITS GULF MEDICAL COLLEGE AJMAN

Gulf Medical College Ajman was honoured with the presence of Padmashree Dr. Sharadkumar Dicksheet, world-renowned plastic surgeon, 5 times Noble Prize Nominee, Recipient of Sheikh Hamdan Award 2002 for Volunteers in Humanitarian Medical Services on Wednesday the 23rd of October 2002. He was accompanied by his daughter Ms. Supriya and Mrs. and Mr. Michael Murphy who have been closely associated with his work over a decade. H.E. Dr George Joseph, Consul General, Indian Consulate, Dubai also spared his valuable time to be present during this memorable event.

 

Though bound to a wheelchair, his right side paralyzed, his heart functioning at 17 per cent and suffering from terminal cancer of the larynx. Dr. Dicksheet 72 years old, has provided a future to thousands of children suffering from various deformities like cleft lip, cleft palates and other deformities. Till date Dr. Dicksheet has conducted 65,000 operations in India.

 

Inspite of his inability to speak due to cancer of the larynx. Dr. Dicksheet, whose nature is to serve humanity despite his pain and suffering, gave a short message to the students of Gulf Medical College. He inspired them to take their profession seriously and to dedicate themselves to the service of mankind and not to consider being a doctor as just a means of making a lot of money.

 

Dr. Dicksheet will be performing operations at the new Gulf Medical College hospital mainly surgery for cleft lip, cleft palate and other congenital deformities on a charity basis and as a service to this community.
