Ministry of Health Hospitals to Accept Gulf Medical College Students for Clinical and Internship Training
An agreement was signed on 7 th February 2007 between the Ministry of Health represented by His Excellency Humaid Mohammed Obaid Al Qattami, Health Minister, Ministry of Health and Gulf Medical College, Ajman represented by Mr. Thumbay Moideen the Founder President of GMCA.The Ministry of Health has agreed to accommodate the students of Gulf Medical College at MoH hospitals for “Clinical Attachment” and also provide them with Internship training at its Hospitals after the completion of 5 years undergraduate, training at GMC.
The agreement also permits and accommodates 3 rd, 4 th and 5 th year students of Gulf Medical College to utilize the teaching facilities at various MoH hospitals . Moreover the graduates of Gulf Medical College will have tremendous opportunity, after completion of their degree program, to work as “Interns”, in these hospitals. In this manner they would be getting full exposure to the local healthcare sector and training under the professionals working at various MoH’s hospitals.
The minister of health also mentioned in his note that “ Gulf Medical College is a very prominent institution and has a very good relation with us and we will make it stronger by conducting many more joint activities. He also appreciated the efforts of GMC in complimenting the activities of MOH and mentioned that this agreement is only an initial step between MoH and GMC that will compliment the requirements and services for mutual benefit .” GMC is working very closely with MOH to support the ever increasing demands of the local healthcare in the private sector.
In addition GMC has planned to carry out the training of PG programs offered jointly by GMC and The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners at various MoH Hospitals. Ministry of Health and GMC is working out a full year timetable for conducting Joint CME programs to benefit the local doctors and clinicians. GMC is also planning to Introduce Full time Degree programs and Diploma Courses in Nursing, along with Short term certificate programs in specialized areas. MoH cooperation is envisaged in its new planned ventures.
Gulf Medical College is glad to announce the new courses planned to start in September 2007 subject to approval from Ministry of Higher education and scientific Research, The enquiry for the following programs: Doctor of Dental Medicine-DMD* Bachelor of Science Nursing* – B.S.N Bachelor of Pharmacy* – B. Pharm has already started at GMC. Gulf Medical College , Ajman (GMCA) is in the 9 th year of providing quality Medical Education and recognized as an institution of higher education by Ministry of Higher Education & Scientific Research, UAE. The M.B.B.S program conducted by the college has received APPROVAL from the Ministry and it is also listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools by WHO and IMED under the Auspices of FAIMER
