The White Coat Ceremony, a highlight of the orientation process, signifies the student’s dedication to healthcare profession and its responsibilities and obligations. New students are personally cloaked in their first white coats by College faculty, and then recite the pledge. They assume the mantle of the medical profession in a meaningful ritual before an audience of mentors, family and friends. The donning of coats by the students acknowledges their initiation into the world of healthcare. The ceremony is designed to impress upon the first-year students, the significance and symbolism of the white coat.
