Gulf Medical University Celebrates 51st UAE National Day, Pays Homage to Martyrs

Ajman: Gulf Medical University (GMU), the leading private medical university in the region owned and operated by Thumbay Group –UAE, celebrated the 51st UAE National Day which falls on 2nd December, with pomp and splendor on Monday, 28th November 2022. The celebrations, which were held from 1 pm to 4 pm at the University campus were a combination of cultural and entertainment events that exuded joy for students and faculty alike who belong to multiple ethnicities, which truly reflected the ‘spirit of the union’.

The campus was resplendent with hues of green, black, red and white, representing the UAE flag. Performances showcasing the rich Emirati culture and traditions were organized as part of the celebrations. Students’ performance on UAE’s traditional dance and also horse-back riding parade added to the festive mood.

Gulf Medical University Chancellor, Professor Hossam Hamdy was the chief guest of the function. The celebrations started with the UAE national anthem and the hoisting of the UAE National Flag. The Deans of the six colleges under GMU as well as the students of the University were present.

For the students from over 90 nationalities and staff and faculty and staff from 50 countries who constitute the population of GMU, the National Day celebrations was a chance to reaffirm the love for their ‘home away from home’.
