GMU and GMCH, Ajman celebrates Global Day 2011 – Annual Ethnic & Cultural Festival
Gulf Medical University, a leading university in research and teaching and GMC Hospital, Ajman celebrated Global Day 2011 – Annual Ethnic & Cultural Festival on the 29th of April, 2011. “Unity in diversity” was the main theme of the grand cultural extravaganza featuring a student cohort from 54 nationalities, faculty, staff members and guests. The colorful event served as a platform for students to showcase the essence of their respective cultures through a series of entertainment of songs, dance performances. Various competitions were held in solo and group singing, cultural dress, talent and fashion shows in addition to the stalls that featured various food items and cultural artifacts.
The event was inaugurated by the Guest of Honor Prof. Gita Ashok Raj who awarded trophies to the winners of best pavilion, most entertaining pavilion, Miss & Mr. Ethnic. Iran bagged the first prize, India the second and U.A.E. the third for the best pavilions while in the best ethnic performers section India bagged the first prize, Nigeria and U.A.E. the second and third prizes respectively.
On the eve of Global Day 2011 – Ehtnic & Cultural Festival, the Chief Guest His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Majid Bin Saeed A Nuaimi, Chairman, Ruler’s Court – Ajman released the inaugural issue of Insight – a News Magazine from Gulf Medical University.
