GMC Hospital & Gulf Medical College opens state of the art Histopathology Laboratory facility.

H. E. Humaid Mohammad Obeid Al Qattami, Honourable Minister of Health, UAE along with founder President Thumbay Moideen inaugurated the new state of the art histopathology laboratory facility open to all doctors for conducting various investigations.

The new facility is a state of the art first of its kind in this region offering such investigation. The institution has equipped the lab with all the latest equipments and manned with qualified Doctors and technicians. The Histopathology laboratory functions as part of the Gulf Medical College Hospital and Research Centre (GMCHRC) Laboratory. It has been planned to offer a full range of diagnostic services on all types of biopsies in a phased manner. In Phase I, which is currently in operation, routine histopathology and specialized histochemical staining techniques are being performed. Phase II will have facilities for immunohistochemistry/immunocytochemistry and frozen sections. The laboratory will be fully equipped for cytogenetic and molecular studies for diagnostic and research purposes in Phase III.

The diagnostic services and technical assistance will also be extended to other hospitals, pathologists, dermatologists, and laboratories in Ajman, other emirates in UAE & overseas doctors. It is hoped that the laboratory would be able to serve both on-campus and off -campus investigators engaged in medical research in many different ways. Services Available are Routine grossing, Tissue processing, Hematoxylin and Eosin staining (H&E), Decalcify bone/tissue, Extra Level, Recut, Tissue Reprocessing, Special staining (AFB, Alcian blue, Amyloid , cresyl violet, Gram, GMS, Iron, Masson trichrome, MGP, Mucicarmine, PAS), Unstained sections, Digital microphotography, Telepathology consultation, Histopathology reporting, Slide Consultation / second opinion
