Community Engagement Activities by Interns & Medical Students

The newly launched Thumbay University Hospital, Ajman conducted the Thumbay Health Carnival & Free Mega Medical Camp’ on Friday, October 18, 2019. Interns, Medical, Nursing, Dental and Physical Therapy students volunteered to participate in this event.


More than 2500 people of over 40 nationalities attended the ‘Thumbay Health Carnival & Free Mega Medical Camp’. The camp was officially opened by Dr. Thumbay Moideen, the Founder President of Thumbay Group, in the presence of Mr. Akbar Moideen Thumbay – Vice President of Thumbay Group’s Healthcare Division, Dr. Mohammad Faisal Parvez – Chief Operating Officer of Thumbay University Hospital and other members of Thumbay Group’s administrative team.

The medical students played an active role in Free Mega Medical Camp as part of their community engagement activity which included triaging, initial assessment of the patients, appropriate referrals and assisting the doctors in management of patients who attended this camp.


Thumbay Group of hospitals, clinics, laboratories and community pharmacies are serving as clinical training sites for all Gulf Medical University students from various programs. The Healthcare facilities are a part of a greater Academic Health System which is the first of its kind in the region integrating academia and research with healthcare to maximize the value of each.
