CCE & CO of GMU awards certificates for successful completion in Medical Coding
In a grand ceremony held on 20th of October 2012 at Gulf Medical University (GMU) campus, Provost Gita Ashok Raj, Provost of GMU awarded certificates of completion to the first batch of 6 students who have successfully completed a course in Medical Coding conducted by the Centre for Continuing Education and Community Outreach (CCE&CO).
The awards ceremony was held at Gulf Medical University premises with Prof. Gita Ashok Raj gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest. Dr. P.K.Menon, Dr.Gamini Premadasa, Prof. Meenu Cherian and Prof. Mohammed Arifulla were some of the senior academic administrators of GMU who attend the event.
Out of the six adult learners who have completed the course satisfactorily and passed the final examination, four of them attended the function to receive the certificates in person, while the other two were offered the certificates in absentia.
While addressing the students Prof. Gita Ashok Raj outlined the planning and preparation that had been undertaken by the Centre for Continuing Education & Community Outreach to launch a wide range of short courses. She stated that the courses were geared to meet the needs of those who may not have had the opportunity to follow formal training programs. She added that the Centre had grown considerably since its inception nearly two years back, with the number of students enrolling in the programs increasing considerably.
Speaking on behalf of the students Dr. Manasi Prabhavalkar appreciated the efforts of Mr. Christopher Samuel and Ms. Padmini Arunagiri as instructors of the course, and thanked Gulf Medical University for providing an opportunity for them to further their careers.
The students who completed the course, no doubt, would find the event a memorable occasion, as their family members too were present at the function to share their joy and achievement.
