Dr. k Shivaprasad Rao, Honourable Minister for Health & Family welfare, Government of Andrapradesh, India Visits Gulf Medical College Ajman.
The Andhra Pradesh minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr.Kodela Siva Prasad Rao visited the Gulf Medical College Ajman along with a high level delegation of experts from the Health and Tourism departments on the 28th of January 2003. ‘I always wanted to visit the college and see the facilities for myself, as I have heard about the college in India’. I feel proud that such a world class institution is being run by an expatriate in the UAE, the minister said. He was highly impressed by the infrastructure and the facilities at the college. The academic ambience is very stimulating and no wonder students from all over the world are drawn to this institution, he told the president of the college. The minister was on a visit to the UAE to attend the Arab Health exhibition to promote health services and tourism in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
Dr. Siva Prasad Rao invited Mr. Thumbay Moideen, president of the college to visit Andhra Pradesh to study the possibilities of joint programmes with the health authorities in his state. Dr. Anji Reddy, Director General of Health Services of Andhra Pradesh informed Mr. Moideen that they would be willing to train students of the college in various specialties in leading hospitals in the state. A proposal is under study towards the same. Mr. Moideen thanked the minister and the health officials for their encouragement and support.
As part of the Summer Training Programme, Gulf Medical College sponsors its students to be sent to various leading institutions and hospitals in USA, UK, Germany, Jordan, Islamic Republic of Iran, Saudi Arabia, India and Pakistan for clinical training. Last year over 150 students were sent for summer training programme, informed the dean of the college Prof. Rangaswami.
