G.M.C.A ANNUAL Sports Festival

A weeklong Sports festival was held at the Gulf Medical College Ajman from the 25th to 29th of January 2003. In a press release issued by the sports committee of the college, it said that the festival had participation of nine colleges and universities from the UAE vying for the Trophy, known as ‘Thumbay Trophy’ in Cricket, “Western Union Trophy” in Football, “Air India Trophy” in Basket Ball, “ETC Trophy” in Throw ball and Faza Trading & “Ajman Beach Hotel Trophies” in Table Tennis. 

“We want to instill the spirit of sportsmanship and in turn develop a healthy competitive attitude amongst the students” said Mr. Thumbay Moideen, Founder President GMCA. We want to make this annual event on an international level in the future, he added. Explaining details about various matches Dr Ishtiyaq Ahmed Shafie, Sports Coordinator at the college said that this year the sports festival was very popular among the students of various colleges & Universities and received a very good response. We appreciate the support received from various sponsors like. Thumbay Group, Western Union, Air India, “ALDO” Montreal Trading, Ajman Kempenski, Emirates Techno casting, Sun & Sands, Ajman Beach hotel, Hannover, Faza Trading, Skippy L.L.C etc. Keeping in view the enthusiasm generated among the students during the sports festival Gulf Medical College Plans to extend the duration of the festival to two weeks and include more colleges and Universities for participation.
