Know your child better – GMC Hospital hosts Annual Healthy Baby Contest & Exhibition, 2012

A healthy lifestyle is important to prevent many diseases. The best time to inculcate good eating habit is during childhood.

The GMC Annual Healthy Baby Contest & Exhibition 2012 was recently held by GMC Hospital, Ajman at the Gulf Medical University. It is held to raise community awareness of the importance of teaching children good health and nutrition habits at an early age. Establishing proper habits starting in early childhood can lead to a healthy lifestyle. The contest also promoted health consciousness among mothers regarding different factors affecting health of children and how they could detect diseases in children at an early stage.

The selection of the ‘Healthy Baby’ was done according to the physical and mental growth, complete immunization, general appearance of the child and parent’s knowledge about childcare. The judges for the Healthy Baby Contest were renowned pediatricians, apart from the experts at GMC Hospital. More than 150 babies, toddlers and infants participated in the Healthy Baby Contest.

Chief Guest of the evening Mr. B. Ahmed Hajee Mohiudeen, Chairman, B.A. Group, India inaugurated the grand event. His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Majid Bin Saeed Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Ruler’s Court, Ajman, Mr. AlHaji Idi Farouk MFR, Former Director General, National Orientation Agency, Nigeria and his team were conspicuous among the eminent dignitaries who attended the GMC Annual Healthy Baby Contest & Exhibition 2012. The visiting dignitaries were received and accompanied for a tour of the contest and exhibition by Mr. Thumbay Moideen, Founder President and Board of Governors of Thumbay Group, U.A.E.

The contest was open to all categories based on age :

1^st category (3 months to 1 year)

2^nd category (1 year to 2 years)

3^rd category (2 years to 3 years)

The contest apart from the awards for the winners of all the three categories of Healthy Baby also had prizes for babies with best curly hair, sparkling eyes, sunshine smile, chubby cheeks.

In the 3 months- 1 year category Ms.Kimaya Dutta bagged the first prize followed by Master Ummer Salman and Ms. Elisha Elina as second and third prize winners.

Master Mohd Osman Syed won the Sunshine Smile award, Miss Blessed Nnaji for Best Curly Hair, Master Azah Khwaja for Chubby Cheeks and Miss Shryeanz Dutta for the Best Sparkling Eyes respectively.

In the 1 – 2 years category Master Ameer Abdul Rahaman bagged the first prize followed by Miss Noural Charif and Master Yahya Tariq as second and third prize winners.

Master Aaron Vilayil Luke won the Best Sunshine Smile award, Miss Fathima Zahra Mehak won the best Curly Hair award, while Miss Maryam Faryan and Master Hamad Ameer Masood Beig won the prizes for Chubby Cheeks and Sparkling Eyes respectively.

And in the 2 year- 3years category Miss Mina OK won the first prize while Master Mina Mohd and Master Drishya Vinod Nair won the second and third prizes respectively.

Master Marcos Alfonso was awarded the prize for the Sunshine Smile, Master Vivaan Shankar for Curly hair, Master Jacques Jozes Fransisco for Chubby Cheeks and Miss Shanamee Frayoz Randeria for the Sparkling Eyes.

Mr. B. Ahmed Hajee Mohiudeen alongwith Mr. AlHaji Idi Farouk MFR gave away the prizes to all the winners of the competition.

Face painting, clown balloon folding, dual image show, games and entertainment, gifts and samples, laughter show, juggler, stilt walker, carnival, quiz are some of the exciting events that were conducted during the Healthy Baby Contest.
