9th Annual Gulf Medical University Sports Festival – 2010 concludes with over fifty trophies presented.

Fifty trophies were presented on the concluding day of the 9th Annual GMUA Sports Festival held at the Gulf Medical University, Ajman. A weeklong Sports Festival was conducted at the University from May 1 – 6, 2010. The Festival had participants from 12 leading colleges and universities in the UAE vying for the trophies.

The concluding day results of the various tournaments were announced during the Prize Distribution Ceremony held in the lawns of the University. The Chief Guest, Prof. Gita Ashok Raj, Provost of Gulf Medical University, Ajman gave away the prizes for the various winners along-with the Guests Mr. Akbar Moideen, Director of GMC Hospital, Mr. Mohammad Salem, Chief of Staff at Alain Hospital. The Deans & Directors of various colleges and universities were present among the guests.

· Winner (Manipal University, Dubai)

5. Tennis – Boys

· Winner (BITS Pilani Dubai)

· Runner-up (GMUA)

6. Table Tennis – Boys

· Winner (BITS Pilani, Dubai)

· Runner-up (Preston University, Ajman)

7. Table Tennis – Girls

· Winner (Manipal University, Dubai)

· Runner-up (GMUA)

8. Throwball – Girls

· Winner (BITS Pilani, Dubai)

· Runner-up (University of Wollongong)

All the participants exhibited a high standard of sportsmanship during the various events. Keeping in view the enthusiasm generated among the students during the festival, Gulf Medical University, Ajman plan to extend the duration of the festival to two weeks in future and include more colleges and universities in various sports events.
