21 Universities participated in the 8th Annual Gulf Medical University Sports Festival 2009

A weeklong Sports Festival was held at the Gulf Medical University, Ajman from 22nd to 2nd April 2009. The festival had participants of more than 21 colleges and universities from all over UAE vying for the trophies. The concluding day results of the various sports festival were announced during the Prize Distribution Ceremony held at GMU Sports Complex on 2nd April at 7:30 pm. The Chief Guest Mr. B. Abdulla Kunhi, India gave away the prizes to various winners along with the Prof. Gita Ashok Raj Provost, Gulf Medical University, Ajman in presence of Mr. Thumbay Moideen Founder president GMU.

Tennis:

  • Winner – University of Wollongong, Dubai
  • Runner up – Gulf Medical University, Ajman

  • Cricket:
  • Winner – Emirates Aviation College, Dubai
  • Runner up – Preston University, Ajman

 

Football:

  • Winner – University of Wollongong, Dubai
  • Runner up – George Mason University, Ras Al Khaimah

 

Basket Ball (Boys):

  • Winner – University of Sharjah
  • Runner up – University of Wollongong, Dubai

The sports festival is very popular among the students of various colleges and universities and received a very good response. We appreciate the support received from various sponsors like Thumbay Group, KEF Holdings, Al Maria, Red Bull, Prolyte, Body & Soul Health Club, Blends & Brews Coffee Shoppe etc. Keeping in view the enthusiasm generated among the students during the sports festival, Gulf Medical University plans to extend the duration of the festival to two weeks and include more colleges and universities for participation. The Admissions for the following programs has already started, Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Bachelor of Physical Therapy (BPT), Doctor of Dental Medicine-DMD and Doctor of Pharmacy – Pharm.D. GMU is glad to announce the Masters in Clinical Pathology (2 yrs) program and GMC-MOH-RACGP Fellowship program starting from March/April 2009. For more info visit www.gmu.ac.ae
