Gulf Medical University Celebrates Ethinic and Cultural Festival, More Than 44 Nationalities Participated

The Student Community at Gulf Medical University celebrated Ethnic and Cultural Festival 2009 which was one of the most colorful events in the campus celebrated both by the students and the staff. Ethnic Day serves as a platform for the students to highlight the ethnicity of their countries and display souvenirs in the pavilions decorated by them. Students also came in the traditional outfits. Prizes were given to the Best Stall, Most entertaining stall, Miss Ethnic, Mr. Ethnic and other categories. The event was full of fun and frolic activities.

The president Mr.Thumbay Moideen and provost Prof. Gita Ashok Raj the chief guest of the function had a tour of the various Pavilions from UAE, India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Africa, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Iran, Palatine and Other Middle east countries and encouraged all the students participating in the event and making it a grand success.

The Cultural Festival was a great success with 6 Universities competing with each other for various events like Solo and Group Song, Eastern Dance, Western Dance and a stunning performance by GMU band with English, Arabic and Indian Songs. The overall winner of the cultural festival was BITS PILANI and the Runner-up was Gulf Medical University.

GMU is recognized and approved as an institution for higher education by the Ministry of Higher Education, UAE. GMC is listed in WHO Directory of Medical Schools and also listed in IMED Directory. The main aim is to impart quality medical education. This is the first University, which offers admissions to both boys and girls of all nationalities. It has an international faculty and a student cohort from 44 nations.

The Admissions for the following programs has already started, Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Bachelor of Physical Therapy (BPT), Doctor of Dental Medicine-DMD and Doctor of Pharmacy – Pharm.D GMU is glad to announce the Masters in Clinical Pathology (2 yrs) program and GMC-MOH-RACGP Fellowship program starting from May/June 2009.
